The Power of Family

This is a shout out to my new Ma and Pa (Christopher’s parents) for all their amazing help this past week! Steve offered up his services to help us out with our electrical as well as his time to work on the roof of our tiny house. Julie, Christopher’s mom, helped out around the build sit. It was nice to have an extra set of hands to tackle a lot of the little things :-)

 House is now completely tyvek covered! We are good to move to the next task... or tasks hehe. We have all the roof beams up (still need to put up the last 6 for the dormer). The house is really starting to look like a house!! We were so excited to see the sheathing go up on the roof beams.

Recently a lot of people have been asking about our house, and how we are building it. The main thing people are thinking when we say we are building a tiny house, they assume it’s part of a kit that we just put together. Others think that we are taking someone’s design to build our house, and when we tell them that it’s all built from our own ideas, the seem a bit surprised. I spent about a month or so figuring out what we would need to live as comfortable as we could without having too much stuff. And the stuff that we would have would be things that we needed more than wanted. This house is designed and built by us... we both went to Art School and are very creative people, so this was not a challenge, but an adventure. The whole reason I got into 3D and Animations was for the creation aspect of it. The idea that I could take the images in my head and put them on the computer and give them life, drove me in the direction that I have taken. This house takes me a step further and gets ever muscle involved in the creation of my dream, and I value and cherish that.  If you can dream it... it can happen... you just have to take the first step.

We got some of the electrical done before the parents had to head back to Michigan. Steve was a big help in getting this part of the house started for us. Thanks Steve!!
